About Tony

Tony Lewis is an Adelaide-based freelance photographer with over 30 years’ broad experience.

He began his career in newspapers, working for The Times in London, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The News and The Advertiser in Adelaide. Twenty years as a press photographer taught him how to work with people and think on his feet to capture the moment.

In 2000 Tony went freelance, working for Getty Images covering news and sport. Since 2005 he has combined his passions for food, wine and the arts in his work. His pictures appear regularly in SA Life magazine and online at InDaily, and have been published in magazines around the world. Recent clients include Nike, Apple and Discovery Channel UK as well as the ABC, Network 7 and several arts organizations.

Tony has been the official photographer for the Womadelaide music festival for more than ten years. He also photographs productions for dance and theatre companies, and buildings for architects and magazines.

He shoots weddings with a photojournalistic approach, capturing the natural flow of a wedding rather than taking over and calling the shots.

Tony has staged several exhibitions of his work, and he is working on a couple more… watch this space!
